What is Yoyo gift card marketplace?

Yoyo gift card marketplace is a self-service digital gifting platform where you can purchase and send gift cards to recipients via WhatsApp or SMS. Gift cards can be redeemed at participating retailers across South Africa.

How does the recipient receive their gift card?

Gift cards are delivered to the mobile number you provide at checkout. Delivery is sent via WhatsApp where possible, or SMS if WhatsApp is unavailable.

How long is a gift card valid?

Gift cards are valid for 3 years from the date of issue, or until fully redeemed, whichever happens first. If a gift card is topped up, the 3-year validity runs from the top-up date.

Can gift cards be refunded or cancelled?

Digital gift cards are issued immediately after successful payment. Once issued, purchases are non-refundable except where required by law. See our Refund Policy for full details.

What is a wiCode?

A wiCode is the unique redemption code (and linked QR code) issued to the recipient for each transaction. It works like a one-time PIN and is replaced with a new wiCode after each partial redemption, reflecting the remaining balance.

Where can gift cards be redeemed?

Recipients can redeem at the participating retailer selected for a Unique Gift Card, or at any participating retailers (excluding Takealot) for a Wrapped Gift Card. Not all retailers support online redemption — check the retailer’s redemption options on the gift card mobisite.

What fees apply?

A processing fee is charged per gift card sent (currently 5% of face value plus VAT, minimum R5.00 per card). The fee is shown at checkout before payment is confirmed.

What if the gift card was sent to the wrong number?

If the gift card has not been fully or partially redeemed, registered senders can update the recipient mobile number via Purchase History. Guest senders should contact us for assistance. We are not liable for gift cards sent to an incorrect number provided at checkout.

How can I resend a gift card?

Registered senders can resend from Purchase History in their Yoyo gift card marketplace account. Guest senders can use the Resend Gift Card option and enter the recipient number again.

Who can purchase gift cards?

Senders must be 18 or older and pay with a valid debit, cheque, or credit card that supports 3D Secure, or via instant EFT where available.
